PALM BEACH COUNTY MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
COMPOSITION COMPETITION
In order to encourage young musicians in composition, PBCMTA hosts an annual Composition Competition for students of its members. The winner from each level will perform his or her winning piece at the PBCMTA Honors Recital in May. Each student will receive comment sheets from the judges and will be awarded a monetary prize.
LEVELS- There are three levels of competition according to the grade level of the student.
- Elementary- Students in grades 1-5 - ($50 prize)
- Intermediate- Students in grades 6-8 - ($75 prize)
- Senior- Students in grades 9-12 - ($100 prize)
Pieces must have a manuscript. Manuscripts must not have the student's or teacher's name anywhere on them. Tapes will not be accepted.
Any style or instrumentation is acceptable, but if chosen as a winner, student must provide performers for the Honors Recital.
